About Indigo Pool Care Perth

Perth’s leading provider of reliable and affordable pool care and servicing.

Indigo Pool Care is an independent, family owned and operated business. We are located in Perth, Western Australia, where Indigo was established in 2013. Founder Alan Docherty bought and merged two existing pool businesses into the newly created, Indigo Pool Care.

Indigo’s team of qualified pool technicians will keep your pool clean and healthy all year round. We will take the stress out of owning a pool, so you can spend your time enjoying it, rather than cleaning it!

Say goodbye to the pool shop queues and dragging home heavy and often unnecessary chemicals. Say hello to the Indigo Pool Care team!

Alan Docherty

Founder and Director

Alfie Docherty

Service Manager

Lee Stevenson

Senior Pool Technician

Alan started his career in the UK where he founded and ran one of the UK’s most successful print houses, before the sunny climes of Australia called. After arriving in Perth and setting up and running print and design businesses, he made a left turn into the business of pool care.

It turns out that his experience in printing translated perfectly to the pool industry. Both require carefully balanced chemistry and well-serviced, smooth-running equipment, along with the highest standards of reliability and presentation. Alan’s extensive leadership experience means he has cultivated a high-performing team at Indigo that is focused on delivering top service and crystal-clear pools.

When not crate digging for vinyl, out on a scooter run or fishing, Alan will be reading, viewing, planning or thinking about…fishing!

Alfie is Alan’s son. He started with Indigo in 2013 and has risen through the ranks to become the Service Manager.

While initially starting out in pools by helping his dad during school holidays, Alfie took on a permanent part-time role with Indigo during his gap year. Alfie quickly discovered he had an aptitude for the industry. By 2016, Alfie was full-time and looking to grow his knowledge of both pools and the business side of the operations. He is now the extremely knowledgeable 2IC of Indigo, with experience in all aspects of pool care, including commercial pool management.

When not on the Indigo hotline, Alfie can be found rehearsing with his band, Circa the Sun, performing gigs across Perth, or surfing the early morning waves of Scarborough or Wedge Point.

Lee is the team’s highly experienced gas fitter and plumber. He learned his craft in the UK under the direction of British Gas. Upon moving to Australia, he set up and ran his own successful spa business. In 2015, Lee joined Indigo Pool Care, bringing his skill set and expertise in plumbing and gas fitting to the team. Hailing from the same hometown as Alan, Lee and Alan have known each other for over 30 years.

Away from pools, Lee loves golf and is quite the artist, having exhibited in galleries and competitions. In his free time, when not tinkering with his vintage scooter or painting his newest masterpiece, you’ll find him on the fairway.

Torrin Stevenson

Pool Technician

Nathan Hutchins

Pool Technician

CHarley Harvey

Pool Technician

Torrin may have joined Indigo full-time in 2021, but like Alfie, his pool care experience started long before, when he joined his dad helping with pools in the school holidays. Torrin worked in various roles before joining Indigo, including as a shift manager at a popular restaurant chain, where he learned the ropes in customer service and leading a team. He then headed to Canada for a two-year working holiday, where he further developed his people skills working within the international hospitality industry.

Upon his return to Perth, we convinced him to join us, where his knowledge, people skills and work ethic have proven to be a great asset.

Outside of work, you’ll either find Torrin playing his guitar, at a mixing desk laying down some of his self-penned tunes, or off on adventures four-wheel driving, hiking, camping, or enjoying his newest hobby, surfing!

Nathan is a long-time friend and honorary member of the family, having met Alfie in Year 7. While studying at university and trying a few part-time jobs, we encouraged him to join us in Pool World, and pools turned out to be the perfect job for him while studying. In 2019, Nathan joined the Indigo team and quickly developed into a popular and competent Pool Technician.

Having now graduated with an Honours Degree in Psychology, Nathan is keen to continue working with the Indigo team. At the same time, he considers his next steps, whether they be further study or starting his career.

Nathan brings a sense of laid-back coolness to the team. He is a dedicated musician and a member of Circa the Sun with Alfie as they embrace their childhood dreams of forming their own band.

Charlie is Indigo’s newest recruit! Having completed our rigorous induction and training, he is now a qualified and enthusiastic Indigo pool tech.

Charlie grew up in the Wheatbelt and brings a down-to-earth outlook and the invaluable experience of farm life to pool servicing. Living and working on a property necessitated being a jack of all trades, with a ‘do it all and understand it all’ mentality, which transfers perfectly to pool care. Charlie has further honed his practical and troubleshooting skills as part of our team, applying his experience as an electrical apprentice to today’s technology-driven swimming pools.

In his spare time, Charlie is a keen fisherman and loves being out on the ocean. He is also passionate about anything related to boats and is equally skilled at keeping them running smoothly as pools.
